From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 8/11/2023 at dwh around 18:30 CST aircraft privacy data omittedlanded and exited rwy 17R at "e" taxiway. (Statement from CFI and student pilot) they were performing laps in the pattern in privacy data omittedat kdwh, upon landing, they exited the runway with the power at idle where the engine sputtered and came to a stop, they tried restarting the engine where they then saw smoke appeared and flames arose from the front of the aircraft. They shut everything off, evacuated airplane and stood clear of any flames. There were no injuries.

Statement from mechanics that extinguished fire. On 8/11/2023 at around 18:30 as they were going back to the hangar X-14 they saw fire coming out from the front of the cowling as the engine stopped running, they stood and watched the pilots exiting the aircraft and pilots maintaining a good distance from the aircraft. Mechanics observed the fire growing so they grabbed a fire extinguisher from their hangar and jumped in a golf cart and proceeded to the aircraft. One mechanic told the other mechanic where to direct the fire extinguisher ,the fire was put out, they then opened the cowlings to make sure that the fire was completely out, then they checked inside the cabin and closed the fuel selector valve.
