From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot of a Cessna 180J sky wagon was flying the plane on a part 91 personal flight when he crashed while making an approach to a rollout to the Canyonlands Regional Airport (cny). The pilot elected to takeoff from RWY21. The pilot flew a normal pattern and aligned the aircraft on final to perform a normal 3-point landing. The pilot stated that he flew a normal approach, with a normal touchdown. Shortly after landing, the pilot stated that at approximately 300-feet into the rollout, the aircraft started to veer to the right. The aircraft departed the runway on the right shoulder onto a dirt and gravel surface. The pilot further stated that the exit from the hard surface was perpendicular to the runway. As the aircraft rolled off the runway, the left landing gear collapsed, and the aircraft began a ground loop which caused the left wing to strike the ground.

As the FAA filed it
