What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On the morning of August 29, 2023 an airplane had a bird strike as the aircraft was rotating for take off (just after vr). The crew heard multiple strikes and also has an airspeed mis-compare. The PIC was pilot flying. Control was transferred to the SIC as the sic’s airspeed and the standby airspeed were in agreement. The crew elected to return to MSL. They did not declare an emergency. The landing gear operated normally. They landed without incident. There were no injuries. Moc was notified.
Initial damage assessment:
3 Geese were hit.
Damage to left side nose, remains in pitot tube.
#2 Engine had fan blade damage as well as damage to the guide vanes, engine did not shut down.
#1 Engine shows signs (feathers) of ingestion as well, engine was not shut down.
One remained on the left wing, just inboard of the nav lights.
The remains of another were wrapped around the nose gear, damage to the landing light and bracket were noted.
