From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Airman used tach time for fuel monitoring purposes. Didn't realize the differnce in hobbs vs tach time for fuel /flight monitoring purposes. Airman didn't understand that the replacement engine, being 180 HP vs 160 HP used more fuel and miscalculated his fuel furn at 10 gph when it was closer to 13GPH. Airman made a fuel stop at sac city, IA, kski. Aiport was notamed no fuel available and he did not see that NOTAM until he landed there. That cost him fuel additional fuel that he didn't have for this trip.
