From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

09/26/2023 The student was approved to fly solo prior to flight. The CFI confirmed that the pilot preflight planning was correct. The solo was approved. The CFI preflighted the aircraft with the student and there were no discrepancies noted. The pilot was cleared by ATC to land straight on runway 35. On final the pilot stated 3 notches of flaps down and was going about 70 knots. Over runway 35 pulled power to idle and began flare over the runway. Pilot states flare was good and touched down just after the intersection of runway 31 and 35. At touchdown retracted all 3 flaps and began pressing on brakes. Pilot claims while pushing brakes they felt locked and weren't going in. Plane started veering to the right, pilot tried to apply brakes and left rudder to maintain centerline and the plane continued veering right. Aicraft entered the grass and the plane turned into the airport sign making contact and a complete stop. I arrived on scene to find aicraft moved. I took photos of wheel markings and sign damage. All indications alligned with statements. I was then directed to the hangar where the aircraft was being evaluated by maintenance. I inspected the aicraft brakes, wheels, rudder and rudder pedals. No defects noted. Brakes and rudder pedals worked as intended. There was no flat spots on the tires nor brinding while running each through the full range of motion. I collected statements from all parties involved. Contacted NTSB and management. While investigationg I recieved 24 months of airframe, prop and engine log books. No defects noted, all ADS comlied with. On 10/06/2023 I returned while aircraft was opened for inspection on rudder cables and engine cowlings removed. I performed an additional inspection of wheels/brakes, rudder, rudder pedals and applicable components. No defect noted. I performed a deflection test and experienced no binding. I inspected the rudder pedal connecting rods and confirmed they too moved freely. Nose wheel had full deflection. The pilot was input into the flight school remedial training program where a 2 hour ground course, 1 hour flight instruction with a new CFI and soloed without incident.

As the FAA filed it
