From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On October 8, 2023, an aircraft privacy data omitted was performing touch and go landings at Georgetown-Scott county regional airport (27K) when it experienced a runway excursion. The weather reported at the time of the accident was visual metrological conditions with winds 260 at 10 knots gusting to 17 knots. The pilot stated that the purpose for the local flight was for crosswind proficiency. The pilot stated the aircraft touchdown and initial roll-out were normal which occurred at approximately 1,000 feet down runway 03. The pilot also stated that as his airspeed was decaying, the aircraft veered to the left side of the runway. To counter this movement, the pilot stated that he applied right rudder to turn the aircraft back in line with the runway. The pilot stated that the aircraft broke left abruptly causing the right bottom wingtip to contact the runway. The pilot stated that the aircraft departed the runway into the grass approximately 2,500 feet past the threshold of runway 03 south of taxiway charlie. The pilot stated that the aircraft dipped toward the ground causing the propeller to strike the ground. The pilot stated that the propeller hub also contacted the ground and the aircraft flipped forward coming to rest inverted. The pilot declined medical treatment as he did not sustain injury. The pilot stated that there was nothing mechanically wrong with the aircraft at the time of the accident. There was no damage to airport property or post impact fire.
