What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On approach to runway 31 at spi at approximately 1908 local time the aircraft encountered a wildlife (bird) strike. It hit the right wing root leading edge and caused substantial damage to the leading edge requireing replacement. It was unknown if the bird had been ingersted into the right engine. Visual inspection of the aircraft exterior was perforemed and no other damage was found. It was past sunset and dark, the crew did not see the bird at anytime prior to or during impact. Weather was not a factor and the aircraft landed without further incident.
Maintenace performed a borescope inspection of the right engine and no f.o.d. was found. Engine wash and run-up completed without discrepancy. Right inboard leading edge was removed and replaced with new part. No further damage was noted to the wing or other structure. A check flight of the aircraft was performed and no defects noted. Aircraft was returned to service.
