From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The private pilot departed from york municipal airport (kjyr) after recieving 28.3 gallons of fuel. Flew for 3 hours and 43 minutes, making stops at omaha eppley airfield (koma), york municipal airport (kjyr) and kaao. Departing colonel james jabara airport at approximately 18:45 CST the pilot began decent for runway 19L into ict. During the decent the aircraft started to decrease in RPM output. The pilot pushed in carb heat and full throttle. The aircraft showed an increase in rpms. As the pilot pulled out the checklist the aircraft decrease in performance and once again the throttle was increase. The pilot then calls Wichita approach. Once the engine stopped the pilot followed the emergency checklist. The pilot determined that 19L at ict was too FAR and picked a landing spot closer. The aircraft landed approximately 1.5 nautical miles northeast of the approach end of runway 19 left at Wichita dwight d. eisenhower. Sustaining damage to right wing, fuselage, nose cowling.
