What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On October 28, 2023, the pilot in command (PIC) and one passenger departed from N41 Waterbury airport, Waterbury, Connecticut on a personal flight to koxc Waterbury-Oxford Airport Oxford, Connecticut. PIC stated that the arrival and departure system (adis) for koxc was inoperative and that automated weather was reporting variable winds at 4 knots. Upon contacting koxc tower the PIC stated he was cleared to land runway 18, with air traffic control reporting winds calm. The PIC stated he executed a normal three point landing, touching down just after the threshold in the vicinity of taxiway “c”. After touching down, PIC stated they were at taxi speed and the aircraft started to turn right of centerline, the PIC applied full left rudder and they stated the aircraft did not respond and proceeded tracking to the right. The PIC stated they then applied some left brake and the aircraft continued tracking towards the right. The PIC stated he noticed the 15 knt windsock was completely stiff and pointed across the runway. The PIC then stated that instead of introducing more braking and risking a ground loop, they allowed the aircraft to continue to the right and steered the aircraft into the grass, between two taxi lights, before reaching taxiway “e”. The PIC stated after speed had been reduced in the grass and they had full control of the aircraft they requested clearance from the tower to taxi to parking, on the east side of the airport. The PIC was cleared as requested and they entered into taxiway “e”, then to taxiway “b” and parked without further incident. There was no damage to the aircraft and no personal injuries reported.
