From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On December 18, 2023, at approximately 1729 CST, an Aero Commander 100 with a pending registration and operated by commercial/flight instructor rated pilot, while performing an introduction flight for a new aircraft type to a current student, planned departure from Texarkana, AR (txk) runway 31 and planned pattern to return to runway 31 for full stop landing. During takeoff roll the instructor pilot took control and took off entering a left downwind for runway 31 and lost situational awareness, added full flaps, and attempted to land runway 4, full engine power was applied with correction to flight path to resume downwind runway 31. With full power applied and full flaps the aircraft would not climb and impacted trees approximately 0.34 miles from runway 4 on a heading of 094 degrees. The impact resulted in substantial damage to the aircraft. The pilot and student sustained minor scratches and bruises.
