What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
The pilot was attempting to land on a private grass Airstrip that was approximately 2000 feet long. The pilot stated that on approach, he realized that he was too high and decided to initiate a go around. According to the pilot, when he attempted to add power, the engine did not respond. The pilot then attempted to land on the remaining runway. The aircraft touched down, approximately 150 feet from the end of the strip. The aircraft went through a ditch that collapsed the right gear and the aircraft stopped upright approximately 15 ft past the ditch. Damage to the prop and ground scaring indicate that the engine was running when it hit the ground.
An inspection of the engine found no issues with the engine, fuel system or carburetor heat.
