From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Consistent with the initial notification from klft ATC facility, the pilot reported: aircraft showed no signs of abnormality on start-up, ground taxi or departure, upon reaching approx 12,000FT from departing klft I heard a grinding noise and asked privacy data omitted if he heard it also, simultaneously the oil pressure was dropping fast to 0 and within hearing the noise to engine sudden stoppage was less than 5 seconds. After the sudden stoppage we declared the emergency over the frequency, established a glide profile towards Abbeville airport kiya rwy 34, conducted the emergency aircraft procedures required for a no engine landing into

Abbeville (emergency gear extend & flaps, engine secure) and establish communication/intention in kiya.

Successful landing was made in kiya with no damage to the aircraft or airport property, the local FBO towed the aircraft off the runway within 45 minutes. The aircraft is currently stored at the local hangar in kiya waiting for the maintenance provider to go and assess the aircraft and find a conclusion to the source of the failure. At this time, I do not know what was the cause of the sudden stoppage, but will provide the info soon as I receive it.

As the FAA filed it

CONSISTENT WITH THE INITIAL NOTIFICATION FROM KLFT ATC FACILITY, THE PILOT REPORTED: AIRCRAFT SHOWED NO SIGNS OF ABNORMALITY ON START-UP, GROUND TAXI OR DEPARTURE, UPON REACHING APPROX 12,000FT FROM DEPARTING KLFT I HEARD A GRINDING NOISE AND ASKED ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ IF HE HEARD IT ALSO, SIMULTANEOUSLY THE OIL PRESSURE WAS DROPPING FAST TO 0 AND WITHIN HEARING THE NOISE TO ENGINE SUDDEN STOPPAGE WAS LESS THAN 5 SECONDS.
