From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

It was a very nice VFR day. Upon climb out at approx 800FT and 3 miles from the airport, myself and the copilot noticed a group of 3 birds at our 2 o'clock. We were FAR enough away from them but as they got closer I banked a little bit to try and miss them but ended up striking one of them on the right wing. The plane flew just fine and no emergency landing was necessary. I did however let Hooks tower know what happened and they cleared me for a right turn back to the airport. I told them I did not need to land on the opposite runway and could land as normal. We landed without incident and was instructed to call the tower on the phone as soon as we shut down.

Aircraft received minor damage to leading edge of wing tip.

No further actions to be taken.
