From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The incident aircraft departed hnl towards jrf to do pattern work. After completing pattern work at jrf, the aircraft departed jrf and headed to the west practice area to practice maneuvers.

During cruise at 3000 ft near the practice area, the engine began running rough. The PIC attempted to climb to 5000 ft to gain altitued in case of engine failure. During the climb, engine began losing power.

The PIC determined that due to the loss in engine power, a precautionary landing should be made as the aircraft may not be able to make it to the nearest airfield (jrf). The PIC chose a nearby open grass field for the precautionary landing. The PIC successfully landed in the open field with no injuries to the occupants and minimal damage to the aircraft.

Subsequent inspection of the aircraft identified a piece of debris clogged fuel line coming from the fuel tank.

As the FAA filed it
