From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

PIC began his descent into the Phoenix area around 40 miles from his destination and tuned into Deer valley tower frequency. PIC noted that ATC was very active and had a lot of aircraft in the pattern. He descended under the class bravo

Airspace to the northeast quadrant and at pinnacle peak, he contacted Deer valley tower with position and request for full stop landing with information x-ray at 5000 MSL. PIC was instructed for a straight in on runway 25 right. He began a descent to pattern altitude and after crossing north of scottsdale class delta airspace, he veered south and began to line up for final approach. When he was on a 4 mile final, he began the landing checklist, but at that moment received

Instruction from ATC that he would be number three and cleared for runway 25 right. PIC was given the position of the aircraft ahead of him turning a right base. PIC stated he had set his checklist down on the copilot seat and turned his focus on locating the traffic. He then slowed his airspeed for spacing. Once he identified the traffic, he lowered his flaps to 10 degrees then the 20 degrees to obtain an airspeed of 70 KTS. An advisory from ATC was voiced that there were multiple aircraft in both north and south patterns. There was an aircraft inbound on the south runway at approximately

The same distance and altitude. At the ½ mile final he focused on centerline and landed gently on runway 25R with gear up at 7:14PM. Then his engine quit and he realized what had happened. PIC notified ATC of the gear up landing. He

Removed his headset and noted the gear warning horn sounding which had been dampened by his noise cancellation headphones he was wearing. He opened the cockpit door to check for any fluid leakage and shut down the airplane. PIC exited the airplane.

As the FAA filed it
