From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On March 26, 2024, at or around 11:00 MST, a Cessna 182Q, had a hard landing at Taos Regional Airport (skx), NM, while on a training flight. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time, and a VFR flight plan was not filed. The aircraft had minor damage and the certificated flight instructor and student pilot were not injured. The flight originated at los alamos, NM, on March 06, 2024, at about 10:00 MST.

The investigation determined the pilot landed hard on the nose landing gear. The pilot stated he did not see any damage, but he realized the rudder defalted hard right but otherwise functioned normally. He then flew the aircraft back to los alamos, NM. The investigation also determined the nose landing gear was damaged but this damage was not visible to the pilot. However, the nose steering cables were loose and laying against the rudder cables.
