From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft impacted terrain short of runway 25 during final approach. The wreckage debris path was oriented on a 250° - 255° heading and spanned about 150 ft from the initial impact point to the main wreckage. All major portions of the airplane were located in the debris path consistent with direction of travel as observed from the flight track data. Review of preliminary FAA ADS-B data revealed that the flight track proceeded about 15 miles northeast of hsp and then turned on a course consistent with navigating towards ahler intersection of the final approach course for the ILS runway 25 approach. The final recorded position was about .15 mile from the runway 25 threshold, which showed the airplane at 3,700 ft, 123 knots groundspeed, and centered on the final approach course. Ingalls Field Airport field elevation is 3790.

As the FAA filed it

AIRCRAFT IMPACTED TERRAIN SHORT OF RUNWAY 25 DURING FINAL APPROACH. THE WRECKAGE DEBRIS PATH WAS ORIENTED ON A 250° - 255° HEADING AND SPANNED ABOUT 150 FT FROM THE INITIAL IMPACT POINT TO THE MAIN WRECKAGE.ALL MAJOR PORTIONS OF THE AIRPLANE WERE LOCATED IN THE DEBRIS PATH CONSISTENT WITH DIRECTION OF TRAVEL AS OBSERVED FROM THE FLIGHT TRACK DATA.
