From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

During approach, the pilots experienced increased effort applying right aileron after they turned off the autopilot. They landed the plane without further issues. Maintenance found that an aileron flight control cable had been improperly routed/installed. The repair station ran the cable on the outside of a guide pin that was meant to keep it from popping off a pulley. As a result of this, the cable frayed due to rubbing on the outside of the guide pin. After the plane landed at Qatar, privacy data omitted sent mechanics over and they removed and replaced the aileron cable. It has been 3 and 1/2 months and there have been no further issues with aileron cable repair. We are investigating the repair station that accomplished this installation, as well as the oversight that the certificate holder gave, since this was an rii maintenance/inspection action.
