From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

PIC made a normal approach to land on runway 10 at Hampton Roads Executive Airport located in Chesapeake VA (kpvg). Winds at the time of the accident were variable from 050-070 at 8 knots. Upon initial touchdown, aircraft encountered a gust of wind which caused the left wing to lift. PIC failed to make appropriate cross wind correction(s), overcorrected, overloaded the right main landing gear strut, causing a subsequent ground loop and right main landing gear failure. Substantial damage to the wings, elevator, and fuselage were noted during the FAA on-scene investigation.
