From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

While in cruise at FL 360 crew received fuel imbalance caution msg with eicas indicating l tank 3900 lbs, r tank 4900 lbs. Qrh was actioned, fuel stabilized, then caution reappeared with r tank now indicating 1000 lbs less compared to l tank. Review suspected fuel indication to be erroneous, although as precaution of a possible fuel leak, a diversion to ewr was carried out. Emergency landing was declared and was uneventful. Upon exiting the runway, the aircraft was stopped, and both engines were shut down. Emergency vehicles arrived to assist. Inspection was carried out and no indication of fuel leak was noted. Aircraft taxied to gate. MEL of fuel indication was carried out and aircraft continued to dca.

Follow-up maintenance was carried out with wiring checks finding an open fault. Repair was carried out at applicable terminal module. Aircraft was returned to service
