From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 4/18/2024 around 1830 EST the pilot attempted to land helicopter in designated landing area in front of operator’s hangar. This hangar is located at Morgantown municipal airport in west Virginia. During landing the pilot incorrectly judged clearences and helicopter’s fenestron tail rotor pylon came to rest on top of a chain link fence. This resulted in minor damage to tail's bumper, requiring its replacement. Additionally, the cowling was punctured by the metal fence. Note: pilot was onboard by himself and had no other crew on board. No injury to pilot. Visual meteorological conditions (VMC) existed during the time of event.
