From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft departed runway 18 at Sheets Airport (FA42) witness reported hearing popping sound as aircraft turned left crosswind to the east, then saw right wing had collapsed and the aircraft was falling from approximately 2-300'. Wreckage was located approximately 500' from the departure end of runway 18. Pilot was sole occupant and fatally injured. No damage to persons or propery on the ground.

Inspection of wreckage revealed bolt connecting wing support to fuselage box was not properly connected. Bolt failed to pass through the hole at the end of the wing support and therefore the wing support was not attached to the aircraft. The bolt was threaded through the fuselage box and tightened. No damage to bolt or end of wing support where connection is made noted.
