From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On Sunday April 29th, 2024, the flight crew on flight fdy 3754 with service from minden–tahoe airport (mev) to San Carlos Airport (sql) experienced an aircraft contact event while taxing to park at the ramp in sql. The left wing tip of the company aircraft, registration privacy data omitted, made contact with the rudder of another parked aircraft, registration privacy data omitted following the incident, the crew parked the aircraft and reported the damage to fodd (flight operations duty director) and maintenance. No injuries were reported. The company aircraft sustained damage to the left wing tip while the other aircraft incurred damage to the rudder.

Root cause : the other parked aircraft was not parked correctly, it was parked too FAR back on the t markings and should have been pulled more forward to allow tail clearance space on the taxiway, cones were not placed in the perimeter of the protruding tail of the parked aircraft, there was no ground crew available to assist with parking due to time of landing

Contributing factor: time of incident was 0130 in the morning. There was no ground crew on staff to assist with taxi and parking and it was dark.
