What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Pilot reported that after takeoff the engine started running rough. Pilot pulled carb heat and engine got better momentarily, but then started running rough again. Pilot decided to try to turn back to the airport, but did not have enough power to maintain altitude. Engine quit at 50 feet above the ground, and aircraft stalled at 10 feet over an open smooth field. A hard touch down caused the nose wheel to dig and subsequently collapse which caused the aircraft to flip over.
