From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 5/15/2024, at approximately 1422MDT, a motorized glider touched down on rwy 17, went off the end of the runway, ground-looped and crashed approx 200 yards from the runway end at the Moriarty Municipal Airport, Moriarty, new Mexico. This was a personal flight originating and arriving at Moriarty Municipal Airport. No flight plan was filed and no weather briefing was received. The atp/pic was the sole occupant on board and received no injuries.

Maneuvering on final approach, the pilot found himself approximately 400 too high, continued the approach by maneuvering to another runway. At no time was the aircraft stabilized on approach which resulted in landing long and touching down approximately 50 feet from the end of the final runway. The aircraft ran off the end of the runway and damaged the fuselage. The pilot never attempted to start the engine and make a go-around.

No maintenance anomalies noted during my investigation, this investigation has been turn over to operations.
