From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The accident circumstances are that the pilot operating under a sport pilot’s privacy data omitted attempted a takeoff on a grass field heading south with an experimental amateur built quicksilver fixed wing aircraft model sport S2. A video retrieved shows the aircraft momentarily veering left on liftoff which put him in a direction in line with a hangar. During the attempt to climb over the hangar the engine could be heard under power and soon as he cleared the building, the aircraft appeared to lose lift rolling left behind the building where it was found to have impacted the ground. The pilot was reportedly repairing the aircraft for the privacy data omitted, and this was the first flight attempt since performing the work. The pilot is said not to have any flight experience in this model aircraft.

We found continuity with all flight controls except the right rudder cable which was found broken near approximately 12 inches from the right rudder pedal. At this time the break in this cable is not known to of occurred pre-or post-accident.

As the FAA filed it

THE ACCIDENT CIRCUMSTANCES ARE THAT THE PILOT OPERATING UNDER A SPORT PILOT’S ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ ATTEMPTED A TAKEOFF ON A GRASS FIELD HEADING SOUTH WITH AN EXPERIMENTAL AMATEUR BUILT QUICKSILVER FIXED WING AIRCRAFT MODEL SPORT S2. THE PILOT WAS REPORTEDLY REPAIRING THE AIRCRAFT FOR THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, AND THIS WAS THE FIRST FLIGHT ATTEMPT SINCE PERFORMING THE WORK.
