From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The commercial pilot during the cruise phase of flight experienced loss of power. The aircraft was at a low altitude and did not give adequate time to review the emergency checklist. The pilot landed the aircraft in a field causing substantial damage to the airframe, propeller, and engine. It was determined that the fuel tank in use was depleted of fuel and the pilot. Aircraft records were reviewed and found to have proper aircraft certification and a current inspection status. Pilot records were reviewed and found to have the correct certification.

Corrective action includes counseling the pilot.
