From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Pilot statement:

On the morning of Monday, June 3rd, 2024, (0750 hrs) I flew from farmington, NM to look at a project near collins park in the gila national forest (in a C205). I had been in the area three weeks prior and deemed that forest road 94 in collins park was an adequate place to land. I looked at the radar and local weather forecasts before leaving that morning. I had slept seven hours the night before. On the morning of the trip, I conducted a thorough pre-flght inspection and topped off with fuel. The flight there was ordinary. Upon arriving at collins park, I turned west and made a 180 degree turn to set up for an east bound landing on forest road 94. I came in slow with my flaps fully extended and touched down in the spot I intended. As the main gear met the road the plane jerked to the left. I immediately added full power in an attempt to go around. The aircraft left the ground at a high angle of attack. I retracted my flaps and then felt the left-wing drop, which forced me to heard north where I lost control and crashed. I never heard the stall warning but I believe that I stalled due to lack of airspeed. The plane landed on its gear. The nose gear and right side main gear collapsed and the prop struck the ground. I was able to walk away with minor injuries. (Landing-accident) no flight plan was filed.

Inspector observations: damage was substantial. The floor was buckled aft to the passenger compartment area. Numerous areas of fuselage buckling and wing buckling. Right landing gear was torn from the fuselage. All three prop blades were bent (approximately) the same indicating the aircraft had power at the time of the accident. The damage is considered substantial.

Pilot sustained spinal compression injuries and was flown by medivac to a hospital in tucson.

No flight plan was filed, no VFR flight following with ATC.

Purpose of flight was personal.
