What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On June 8th, 2024, around 6:45 am local time, an aircraft crashed on the ground about 1000 ft short of runway 6 while attempting to land at the local regional airport. The aircraft departed from the same airport a few minutes earlier from runway 24 and soon after experienced engine power loss a couple of times. The first occurred while climbing up and the second happened after the aircraft returned to the airport to land on runway 6. The aircraft struck the treetops, spun around, hit the ground, and rested upright, facing south.
The aircraft suffered substantial damage, but the pilot, the only person onboard, suffered minor injuries. Before exiting the aircraft, the pilot shut off the fuel selector and electrical power and climbed through the opening of an absent windshield panel to the outside.
