From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Airman was on a flight to Delaware airpark (33N) and back to Spirit Airpark (DE20) after obtaining fuel for a planned flight the following day.

During the preflight and subsequent preflight inspections there were no discrepancies identified.

Airman stated during the interview that the approach into DE20 was normal and his approach speed was between 60 and 70 knots.

During the landing, the pilot stated in the interview that the main gear tires touched first, but as the nose gear touched down it collapsed and dug into the grass runway. The collapse resulted in the aircraft flipping over and coming to a rest upside down.

Substantial damage was noted on the fuselage as the main structure was twisted and bowed.
