From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The aircraft's autopilot system was deferred under an MEL. The first officer flew a stable approach and the crew properly configured the aircraft for landing. Immediately prior to landing, the first officer reduced the thrust to idle between 40 and 50 AGL. The first officer adjusted pitch to compensate. The aircraft bounced twice and the first officer conducted a go-around. During the investigation, the crew reported the first officer reduced the thrust levers to idle too quickly and the first officer did not compensate for the aircraft sink rate. The crew found the aircraft damage on the postflight walkaround. The captain recorded a hard landing and tail strike in the company aircraft maintenance logbook. The FAA inspectors categorize this event as an incident.
