From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 6/25/2024 at 1245 CDT, a Cessna 182T, was conducting a training flight and on landing and rollout, the right-hand wheel brake failed to respond to any inputs. The crew was able to pull back on the ailerons and use the left brake and right rudder to maintain directional control of the airplane, while pulling the engine mixture and bringing the aircraft to a complete stop on the runway. Upon shutdown, it was determined that the right-hand wheel fairing assembly had come apart and the brake line leading to the right-hand brake assembly had been cut, as well as damaging the right-hand wing strut fairing. The right-hand wheel fairing was an aftermarket product installed in February 2015.

The aircraft records indicate that the last annual inspection was completed at airframe total time: 5356.2 on October 11, 2023, and the last 100-hour inspection was complete at airframe total time: 5672.9 on may 28, 2024. At the time of the accident, the aircraft had accumulated approximately 56 hours since the last 100-hour inspection.

When any other additional information becomes available, this report will be amended as necessary.
