From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The FAA was notified of the accident. Arrived at the scene and began the investigation. The pilot and passenger were seriously injured and were already in the hospital being attended. The aircraft appeared destroyed from striking the trees and falling nose first into the ground, the tail portion remained elevated and beyond reach. The pilot and right seat area were deformed from the impact. No fire detected or fuel smell. The investigation is still not complete. We are waiting for a pilot statement on the events leading to the crash and other information from the aircraft privacy data omittedto complete the investigation. When the information is received the report wll be amended. Airplane had some problem with the attitude indicator where it would continue to realign while in flight. Avionics tech discovered that one of the leads that plugged to the ahrs had some corrosion and changed it to a new one. Airplane was being test flown with the avionics tech aboard so he could troubleshoot. Upon departure from runway 31 at or about 300' engine started loosing power, pilot tried finding a best place to land but there were not many options at such low altitude.
