From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On July 19, 2024 at 1115 local time, a Beechcraft model B-45, privacy data omitted, registered to an LLC and operated by a private pilot, received minor damage during a gear-up landing on runway 27 at Beaver Island Airport (sjx) on Beaver Island Michigan. Visual meteorological conditions existed at the time of the accident. The personal flight was being conducted under the provisions of title 14 code of federal regulations (CFR) part 91 without a flight plan. The pilot received no injuries. The flight originated from charlevoix municipal airport (cvx) at approximately 1051 local time.

The aircraft came to rest approximately 10FT off the north side of runway 27 in the grass at the intersection of runway 05 – 23. Damage to aircraft is as follows: both propeller tips are curled back, both lower flap skins at inboard aft corners are scrapped through skin layer, both engine exhaust that protrude below cowl are scrapped and flattened, and a belly antenna located just forward of the flaps was sheared off.

The pilot stated that everything was normal and he ran through his normal checklist and just failed to extend the gear during his gumps check and came in with added power to clear trees at end of the runway which caused the gear warning not to go off. He did not notice the gear was not down until he touched down.

As the FAA filed it

ON JULY 19, 2024 AT 1115 LOCAL TIME, A BEECHCRAFT MODEL B-45, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, REGISTERED TO AN LLC AND OPERATED BY A PRIVATE PILOT, RECEIVED MINOR DAMAGE DURING A GEAR-UP LANDING ON RUNWAY 27 AT BEAVER ISLAND AIRPORT (SJX) ON BEAVER ISLAND MICHIGAN.
