From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Student pilot was doing a mock checkride in preparation for a private pilot checkride with an instructor. During the takeoff, both pilots felt a bump at rotation. The plane behind them advised that they had lost the nose wheel. A low pass verified the lack of a nose wheel. Instructor elected to return to their home base. There they also performed a low pass to verify the lack of a nose wheel. Instructor performed the landing. The nose gear eventfully collasped but the aircraft remained on the runway.
