From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On August 19th 2024, at approximately 09:16 local time, a Cessna 172 piloted by a student pilot returned to kffc from a solo cross-country flight. The student pilot landed on runway 31 at kffc. During landing roll out the airplane veered off the left side of hard surface runway, into the grassy area adjacent to the runway. The airplane traveled approximately 175' in the grassy area, striking the outermost precision approach path indicator (PAPI) light, with the outboard section of the left flap. After impacting the PAPI light, the student pilot executed a left turn (approximately 270°) to return to runway surface. The student pilot elected to taxi back to runway 31 and complete another circuit in the traffic pattern before ending the flight at the school. Visual inspection of the airplane revealed minor damage and paint transfer consistent with the color of the PAPI on the outermost portion of the left flap. No other external damage was visible on the airplane. The left most PAPI light was knocked over by the impact of the airplane.

As the FAA filed it
