From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On August 28, 2024, privacy data omitted privacy data omitted, a Airbus A330 aircraft, landed at bos airport and crossed the runway 33L edge line with the nose gear possibly causing damage to a runway edge light. The event occurred when the aircraft taxied from taxiway m onto the runway. The pilot of a second aircraft reported a damaged runway light in the vicinity where the nose gear of privacy data omitted crossed the runway edge line. At no time did privacy data omitted exit the runway pavement.

The privacy data omitted surveyor of quality assurance provided the following summary: initial report from the crew suggested that after the gate became available the f/o began to taxi as cleared and overshot the turn and taxied too slowly before the right turn, when applying more power for the turn the f/o turned quite wide and came to stop at around a 45DEG angle as opposed to 90DEG. The captain took over the turn and completed it, but the crew were unsure if this resulted in the nose of the aircraft slightly breaching the runway entrance markers for rwy 04L. They informed ATC that one of the lights could have been run over and to check. A walk around was performed after the flight with an engineer and found no damage to the aircraft.

As part of our internal investigation this event was followed up with massport and we questioned the potential incursion and the light damage and we were informed that the light had been knocked over when the aircraft’s main wheels came into contact with the left side elevated edge light on rwy 33L. It was knocked over and found in one piece. Our investigation found that the first officer is new to the company and is also new to operating heavy jets and overshot the turn which led to the aircraft crossing the threshold and knocking over the light whilst the turn was completed by the captain.

The crew of the privacy data omitted were proactive and filed a safety report that was filed with the uk caa mor scheme.

As the FAA filed it

ON AUGUST 28, 2024, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, A AIRBUS A330 AIRCRAFT, LANDED AT BOS AIRPORT AND CROSSED THE RUNWAY 33L EDGE LINE WITH THE NOSE GEAR POSSIBLY CAUSING DAMAGE TO A RUNWAY EDGE LIGHT. THE EVENT OCCURRED WHEN THE AIRCRAFT TAXIED FROM TAXIWAY M ONTO THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT OF A SECOND AIRCRAFT REPORTED A DAMAGED RUNWAY LIGHT IN THE VICINITY WHERE THE NOSE GEAR OF ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ CROSSED THE RUNWAY EDGE LINE. AT NO TIME DID ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ EXIT THE RUNWAY PAVEMENT.

THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ SURVEYOR OF QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVIDED THE FOLLOWING SUMMARY: INITIAL REPORT FROM THE CREW SUGGESTED THAT AFTER THE GATE BECAME AVAILABLE THE F/O BEGAN TO TAXI AS CLEARED AND OVERSHOT THE TURN AND TAXIED TOO SLOWLY BEFORE THE RIGHT TURN, WHEN APPLYING MORE POWER FOR THE TURN THE F/O TURNED QUITE WIDE AND CAME TO STOP AT AROUND A 45DEG ANGLE AS OPPOSED TO 90DEG.

THE CREW OF THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WERE PROACTIVE AND FILED A SAFETY REPORT THAT WAS FILED WITH THE UK CAA MOR SCHEME.
