From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 9/03/2024, at around 10:00 CDT, C172M had a propeller strike while taxiing to runway 14 via taxiway alpha at kcxo. Statement from pilot: "I then started the plane and was taxiing to the runway when I remembered the tracker was not working properly due to the button being mashed in. I reached down to grab my key that had fallen to the floorboard to try to jam it in and veered to the right slightly without noticing. Once I sat back up and reached for the tracker, I saw I was about to be off the taxi way so I applied my left brake but at this time I believe it was too late. The ground was very saturated and my right main sunk deep into the mud causing the prop to catch into the mud as well".

The only damage found was propeller strike. AD must be applied to engine for prop strike.

Compliance action/oral counseling was conducted iaw 8900.1 VOL14, CH1, SEC2 and order 8000.373C. The pilot was willing and able to cooperate with all inquiries and suggestions during the investigation and counseling. No further action is required, and this accident case is closed.
