From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 09/11/2024, a 1951 Cessna 170A departed landings condominium airport (82IS) in huntley, IL at approximately 0944 CDT heading southeast towards elizabethtown, KY. The flight was being conducted under 14 CFR part 91 under VFR conditions. At approximately 1240 EDT while cruising at 3500 feet the pilot reported hearing a knock in the engine. Pilot noted that the engine was losing engine oil pressure and the engine starting to overheat. The knock began to get louder and the pilot decided to attempt an emergency landing in a field. At 1244 EDT the landing gear touched down first and the aircraft continued forward until the nose and propeller struck the ground causing the aircraft to flip over. The aircraft came to rest upside down in a soybean field. The pilot released his seatbelt and exited the aircraft on his own. The aircraft sustained significant damage. No injuries to the pilot were reported.
