From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 9/16/2024 at about 11:30 pm mountain time, the Beechcraft B200 aircraft departed kabq on a IFR flight plan for a medivac flight to pick up a patient at klvs. Upon reaching kvls, the crew requested and received clearance by ATC for the visual approach. At klvs aircraft crossed over mid field and entering the left downwind for runway 14. As the aircraft was about to touch down in the flare, an elk ran from the left side of the runway straight at the aircraft. Aircraft speed was too slow to conduct a go around and the elk was struck at approximately 80-90KTS. The left landing gear became disengaged from the aircraft and the aircraft came to rest on the left wing. All crew and flight medical personnel exited the aircraft without incident or injury. Accident time was 12:40 am on 09/17/2024. Damage to aircraft was determined to be substantial and the event was classified as an accident. Jrk
