What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
The pic's flight plan was to go to kmic to kfcm then go to kbrl. At kfcm the PIC was planning to pick up a friend for the trip kbrl. PIC stated that he spent time in a vr flight sim the night before practicing approaches for both kfcm and kbrl as he hadn't landed at kbrl before and hadn't landed at kfcm in some time. PIC did preflight checklist at kmic, planning on getting fuel at kfcm. PIC atated that after take off everything functioned normally and was almost directly handed off from kmic tower to the kfcm tower. While over lake minnetonka he was told by the tower that his ADS-B transmitter was not working. The PIC reported elevation and location and restarted the transponder and it began working correctly. The tower confirmed they could see his ADS-B again. PIC was cleared to enter a left downwind for 36. PIC entered the pattern and started his landing checklist. After the plane slowed to under 140 mph, the PIC stated "I extended my landing gear by pressing the gear lever to the floor. I watched the red light turn out and I recall seeing the 3 green lights come on, it was hard to see them in the sun. I felt the "air brake" drag of the gear slow the plane down further and at 120 mph I extended 1 notch of flaps. As I came into land on final, I extended my flaps the rest of the way and went to full rpms. Everything felt correct, my airspeed read 89 mph and my PAPI lights were 2 and 2. As started to land I pulled the rest of the power out of the engine and I flared to bleed off speed. Right when I expected to feel my landing gear touch, I felt nothing and then I was sliding. I was still pulling back for my flare and I kept pulling back as I realized what was happening to stop the prop strike and I pulled the mixture out to kill the engine. I came to a stop in the grass. I told the tower what had happened. I used the fuel shut off in case of a leak. I turned off all the electronics and exited the plane waiting for assistance."
The aircraft came to rest on the grass after sliding on it's belly. Damage to the aircraft included, but was not limited to, propeller strike, right wing leading edge taxi light strike, main gear doors, and belly of aircraft.
