From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot stated he was in cruise flight on the second leg of a cross country flight. The pilot heard a thump and the engine ran rough, lost power, and started losing altitude. The pilot landed in a hay pasture with no apparent damage to the aircraft. The engine was found to have the number 1 cylinder barrel cracked and separated in the cylinder barrel.

A request for a service difficulty report (SDR) was made to the aircraft owner, but an SDR was never made at this time.
