From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Oct 13, 2024, a private pilot was landing at 77S airport on runway 34 in a Cessna 177B and experienced a hard landing. The airplane then bounced several times and veered off the runway to the left between runway and taxiway, hitting a taxi way crossing sign. The aircraft continued moving forward hitting a mound of dirt and launching the aircraft in the air for a distance before impacting the ground nose low and causing the nose landing gear to break away. Aircraft came to rest in the grass with additional damage.
