What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On October 18, 2024, at 0930PDT in Fullerton Municipal Airport’s southwest ramp, a Cessna 182 aircraft struck the tail of a parked Cessna 172 and stopped after hitting a trash can damaging two other aircraft and a hangar. The Cessna 172 was pushed into another parked aircraft, a Piper PA-24 comanche.
A person in charge of scheduling maintenance for the organization was inside the Cessna 182 to update the avionics for the aircraft. The 182 was parked behind and between the Cessna 172 and the comanche. It was facing north, in the opposite direction of 172 and comanche. The person started the aircraft, and the plane started moving and turned right. It went over the chalk and kept on moving, making a 180-degree turn. The Cessna 182’S nose and right wing struck the tail section of Cessna 172 that was parked on the back right of the Cessna 182. The struck aircraft was pushed off to the right and collided with another parked Piper PA-24 comanche, which was parked left of the 182’S original parking spot. The Cessna 182 continued to move for another 20~30 feet and stopped after its left wing hit the hangar and collided with a dumpster, knocking the dumpster down. While this was happening, the person under control of the aircraft had no outside visual as the front windshield sunshade was on.
As a result, the front leading edge of the Cessna 182’S right wing was squashed approximately a foot wide and scuffed. The left wing has dents and cracked open on the leading edge corner. The Cessna 172’S vertical stabilizer is bent and crushed. Its left wing is punctured on the bottom by the comanche’s propeller. The comanche’s left wing is dented and punctured. No person was injured.
Per NTSB, this is considered as an incident.
