From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 10/21/2024 at 1123 CDT, aircraft privacy data omitted, a Piper PA32- incurred a right main landing gear collapse after landing at lacrosse, WI (lse). Following a normal landing on runway 18 and after approximately 2OO feet of rollout, the right gear retracted and the aircraft struck the runway. The aircraft sustained minor damage to the propeller, right wingtip, right flap, and right elevator tip.

The pilot was the lone occupant and no injuries were reported.

The pilot reported an in-flight electrical power loss occuring approximately 10 minutes after takeoff. The pilot diverted to lse and utilized the emergency landing gear extension in preparation for landing. Visual confirmation of landing gear extension was provided by lse air traffic control. The landing was normal but the right landing gear collapsed on the runway following 200 feet of rollout.

The pilot reported that the aircraft operated normally prior to the power loss, and no warning lights or cockpit indications corresponding to the elecrtical loss were noted.

Subsequent ground testing of the aircraft landing gear revealed no discrepancies with both normal extension and emergency extension systems.
