From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Airman departed private sod runway, upon departure observed weather conditions below his personal minimums north of his departure airport. Pilot opted to return to the point of departure and land. Pilot made short approach to the private sod runway to avoid flying over the thin cloud layer. The short approach resulted in touching down at the midfield point with approximately 900 feet remaining runway. The runway condition was wet grass. Upon touchdown, the pilot applied brakes and the aircraft began to skid to a stop. The pilot was able to maintain directional control of the aircraft but failed to come to a stop prior to striking two trees located at the end of the runway resulting in substantial damage to the aircraft with no injuries to the occupant.
