From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On November 30, 2024, I was instructing privacy data omitted in his Cessna 140, privacy data omitted at klvj airport.

privacy data omitted Occupied the left seat and I was in the right seat. We stayed in the traffic pattern for runway 14.

After completing 5 patterns, practicing crosswind techniques, crabbing and cross controlling, we decide to make a full stop.

It was a normal pattern, flare and touchdown in a three point attitude. We had a 5-7 knots, 30 degrees, crosswind from the left.

After touchdown, the plane veered left. I stepped on the right rudder to correct but the aircraft continued to veer left rapidly. I then pressed the right brake while pulling all the way aft on the elevator (which was already aft).

The tail lifted up slowly, on it’s nose, and flipped on it’s back.
