From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On December 6, 2024, at approximately 0100 EST, a Honda jet 420, piloted by the pilot in command (PIC) a certificated pilot, suffered minor damage to the left and right landing gear doors and starboard wing leading edge as it attempted to land on RUNWAY24 at Muskegon County Airport (kmkg). Weather at kmkg was VFR with overcast at about 4,000 with light winds (less than 10KTS) out of the northwest. Runway rcr was listed as 4,4,4 with dry compacted snow and bare spots. The PIC reported previous aircraft had landed at Muskegon and provide pireps earlier in the evening, they had landed and departed safely, although weather had improved since their reports. Approach was an ILS to 24 under VMC flight conditions. The aircraft was functioning properly. Touchdown at kmkg was on the touchdown zone (1000-foot marker area) and on speed. Brakes were immediately applied. A slow slide was noted by the PIC. The PIC was slow to correct and eased into it since PIC did not want to initiate a slide, skid or fishtail the aircraft. By the time the pici corrected the slide and was traveling parallel to the runway the aircraft was close to the edge on the left side of runway 24. The runway was clear (clear of heavy snow, runway center line and paint markings are covered in snow) however there was significant snowbanks on the sides of the runway with heavier snow. By the time the PIC got straightened out the aircrafts left main caught the heavier snow and it pulled the aircraft off the runway into the deeper snow. The aircraft paralleled the runway to the left side for approximately 1500 feet, veering back towards the runway and coming to rest on the side of the runway with 2 of the three wheels back on the pavement. During this process we hit 2 runway lights and a runway sign. No injuries reported to the 2 crew members and 2 passengers aboard the aircraft at the time of the incident.

On December 6th at approximately 1130, the FAA iic arrived on scene at kmkg to begin the investigation and assess the damage to the aircraft. The iic gained permission from the aircraft owner via the PIC. The aircraft was found in the hangar and pictures were taken of the hazard aircraft. The iic also conducted a records check of the aircraft and pilot logbooks and interviewed the PIC. It was determined by the iic that this incident was due to icy runway conditions and there wasn’t anything the PIC could have done to prevent the incident from happening. This incident is considered closed no follow up required.

As the FAA filed it
