From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

A private pilot with two passengers was returning to Lakewood Airport (N12) after flying in the local area. On his first approach to runway 24, the pilot executed a go-around because his approach to landing was too high and fast. On the second approach to landing, the pilot admitted to approaching too high and fast again and decided to execute a go-around approximately three quarters of the way down the runway. On the go-around, the left wing and tail of the aircraft struck trees and then came to rest approximately 350 feet from the end of the runway. Substantial damage noted to both wings, deformation and twisted fuselage and empennage, and tail section was severed from aircraft upon impact.

One passenger was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The pilot and other passenger did not sustain any injuries.
