From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On January 25, 2025, a Cessna 414 landed with the nose gear up on runway 22L at Stanly County Airport (kvuj). This was the third flight of the day. Weather at kvuj was VFR with winds 200/07. When the gear was selected down the pilot heard a loud pop from the lower floorboard near his feet. The landing gear indicators for the mains illuminated green and the nose gear indicator failed to illuminate. Nose gear did not extend after performing the emergency gear extension. Pilot declared an emergency and landed with the nose gear up.

An inspection of the aircraft after the incident revealed that the nose gear extension and retraction adjusting bell crank was broken, the bolt connecting the right nose gear door to the control rod was found missing, and the control rod was hanging loose in the nose landing gear wheel well.

These findings may have caused the nose gear to jam in the wheel well preventing it from extending.

As the FAA filed it
